Walls Made of Glass, the third album from pianist and composer Gentiane MG, originated from a search for meaning in the composer’s immediate surroundings, made up of objects, animals, plants and sounds. These inspirations led to a collection of ten contrasting pieces that unfold in an imaginative and deeply personal universe. MG is joined by bassist Levi Dover and drummer Louis-Vincent Hamel, who contribute their original voices to the music. With a playful and evocative dialog, the trio has found their unique voice, transcending genre and striving for creative freedom.
Walls Made of Glass was presented in Canada, Germany, France and Neitherlands in 2022. The trio will be travelling across Canada in June 2023 to present Walls Made of Glass and in Canadian Jazz Festivals (Victoria, Winnipeg, Calgary, Ottawa, and Montreal).
MG has received several awards for her work with her trio, including the OPUS Award for Discovery of the Year in 2020, the CBC/Radio-Canada Jazz Award in 2018 and the François-Marcaurelle de la GMMQ Award.
